Automobile

Off-road vehicles

Did you know that you must have at least $500,000 in third liability insurance from your insurance company to drive an off-road vehicle (ATV)? This policy covers all claims for damage caused to a third party while driving your ATV. Find out more about Off-Road Vehicle (ATV) insurance by clicking here.

Can you recall your claims experience of the past six years?

Your insurer mentions that you were involved in two accidents in the past five years. But you don't really remember. What should you do? Ask for a copy of your file from the Fichier central des sinistres automobiles. This claims tracking database contains a record of all automobile claims made in the past six years. All you need to do is make a request in writing to the Fichier central des sinistres automobiles. Click here to find out more.

Swimming pools and spas

Have you put in a pool or spa? You should know that pools and spas are not automatically covered under your basic home insurance policy. They must be insured under a rider (addition to your policy). This is something you should consider, given the record number of pools damaged this winter because of the harsh weather conditions.
