The infoassurance.ca site is operated jointly by the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and the Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA).

IBC is the association that represents most of the companies that insure your homes, cars and businesses.

GAA, created in 1978 by the Automobile Insurance Act, serves the needs of policyholders while working to keep down the cost of claims so that Québec drivers can continue to pay reasonable insurance premiums. All automobile insurance companies that operate in Québec must be a member of GAA. The Act also entrusts the GAA with specific responsibilities:

  1. guarantee access to insurance
  2. simplify the claims process
  3. oversee and regulate the professional appraisal of collision repair
