Why separate insurance?  |   How-and how much?  |   Coverage of business property
Civil liability  |   Additional guarantees and riders  |   Taking work on the road

Self Employed Workers - Civil liability

Self-employment insurance provides additional civil liability coverage that's not included in your home & property policy-liability that extends to wherever you do business and also includes incidentals.

  • What are incidentals? These are incidents that occur in the course of your professional activities, but are not specifically part of them. For example, if an accountant spills coffee on a client's exquisite Persian carpet when delivering financial statements, the insurance will provide an indemnity to cover carpet cleaning.
  • In other words, this guarantee covers you for accidents that cause damage but are not directly related to your business activities. It's important to note that this is completely separate from professional insurance directly related to your business itself.
  • Beware of exclusions! A self-employment policy, like any insurance policy, also contains exclusions. The most common are the production and processing of dangerous materials, businesses with multiple employees, damages you've accepted liability for through a contract, and damages related to your professional responsibility.
