Condominium insurance
Two insurance policies are in effect for condominiums, one for each co-owner's private portion and one for the condominium syndicate's portion.
The co-owners' insurance covers:
- Personal property
- Civil liability
- Improvements made since the construction
The syndicate insurance covers:
- Common portions: lobbies, corridors, stairs, roof, etc.
- "Building" portion of the private portions: walls, floors, windows, etc.
- Civil liability of the condominium syndicate
In case of loss, these two policies could split the compensation.
It's important to consult your declaration of co-ownership to know exactly which insurance covers each part of the building.
