Off-Road Vehicles - Legal Age

You must be at least 16 years old to operate an off-road vehicle. If you are under 18, even if you hold a valid driver's license, you must apply for a special certificate of competency confirming that you possess the necessary skills and knowledge to operate an off-road vehicle. If you do not hold such a certificate and you commit an offence, you may be fined anywhere between $500 and $1,000.

You can obtain a certificate of competency for off-road vehicles after taking and passing a specialized course through an agency authorized by the Government of Quebec.
